ac OS X 10.3.1 (Build 7C103): Although currently less than 500K in size and only patching a handful of Storage I/O, Loginwindow, and other system functions, 10.3.1 is expected to eliminate problems with data corruption on Firewire 800 storage devices, fix a handful of user-level crash bugs, and may modestly improve startup performance and Fast User Switching.
However, the final release of 10.3.1, expected in 1-2 weeks, will be around 7C120 and should be closer to 2MB in size, including a number of other code changes written by Apple's Panther team during the 7C series but not yet integrated into the main branch of the update. Java is expected to work properly in some situations where users have updated from Jaguar and certain applications fail to properly access Java 1.4.1; performance on some older G3 systems which were updated from Jaguar may also improve. More on 10.3.1 as testing continues.
