I apologise for not knowing German language good enough so that I could write to you about my problem with overprints. When I make .ps or pdf file and in Printer options turn black overprint on it does not work. Also when I can convert black text to path I do not have overprint on. Can someone please explain me why this is happening and how to solve that problem.

… can u send me the file or the link for download please? i use the overprint function everyday with your system configuration and until yet no problems so i am a little bit confused ;-)

… other solution idea. don't use the overprint function in the print dialog … use the overprint checkbox in the object window for color when u activate the text or an object.

I have prepared opened Freehand MX file and also a Press optimized pdf which has a function Overprint Black turned on but it does not work.
In file Test seite u can see that the black text is not overprint. Why do this thing happen.

… u are right. freehand seems to have a problem with the overprint function in the print dialog. it is a bug. but don't worry. i test your document and mark your text with the cursor and used the overprint checkbox in the object window. all fine now when u print in pdf or ps.

I have used the same method myself, but I still wanted to know why this is happening. Thanks for the help.

Hi, Nina!

To solve your problem you have to define all objects by stroke and/or fill with the overprint-feature individually.
To check "Ovrprint" globally in the print dialog is not enough. All overprint features of the print dialog are only working for printing separations.

When distilling your composite PostScript file be aware that Distiller does honor your overprints by checking "Preserve Overprint Settings" in the "Advanced" section of Distiller.
